    RIP
d Crews recover body of missing boater on Rend Lake By Christy Hendricks

Searchers recovered the body of a missing boater on Rend Lake.

Msgt. Jeffrey Cairens with IDNR says searchers found the body of 54-year-old Alan Saiz of Sesser.

Cairens says Saiz was pronounced dead at the boat ramp by the Franklin County coroner at 7:20 p.m.,

Saiz was found off the Gun Creek Recreation Area in 12 feet of water where crews were told he had fallen off a boat Sunday night.

Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says his department received a 911 call Sunday night around 8:30 that a 54-year-old man fell out of a boat.

Jones says the boat ran out of gas and began to drift.

A female was also in the boat. Jones says she is OK.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources used side scan sonar.

Chris McCloud with IDNR says the two launched from Gun Creek boat launch

I bought a couple automatic/manual inflating life jackets this summer. I was on Rend 4 days last week. I finally decided to get them out and wear them. They would not do me any good stowed away.

They are really comfortable. You barely even know they are on.

They are nice! I have spent a good deal of my life on the water, learned to Water Ski in grade school and later learned to Barefoot ski. I'm not afraid of the water, but it is foolish not to respect it.
