I'm not going this weekend but this last fall they stocked some big ones. I know they had a big problem with a die off last fall I wonder if they will stock them as big this spring?

My friends and family hate eating trout, they are spoiled on bluegill and crappie. So this weekend for the final four I will be making grandma's salmon patties, that will be made with trout and they will eat it until it's gone.

Good luck this weekend and good luck to everybody that is still alive in your brackets. Personally I need Duke to win one and then lose in the championship.

Yeah, they stock them by total pound, so some years you get a whole bunch, but they are smaller. And then some years they dont put near as many in, but they are a lot bigger. One year they stocked a bunch of hybrids that were bright orange and yellow, they looked like gold fish. Looking back, I kind of wish I would have mounted one. I have caught them on Monday b4, and sometimes even up through that next week, but of course sat. and sun. are always the best.

I have fished it every year for about 13 years, with good luck. Last year I tried Lake of the woods, that was a mistake. I will return to old faithful sat. about 6 A.M. and hopefully get the magic spot.

I have never gone and will not be going this year. What is required to fish for them...permit? Also, in general how does one fish for them...type of equip and bait other than fly fishing?

Flyfishing for them would be a waste of time. You need an inland trout stamp. Rig one ultralite with a weight a foot of line and bait a small treble hook with trout powerbait. If it is sunny I cast a roostertail with the other ultralite pole.

pfft forget the powerbait, just use corn, its basically what they feed em at the stock ponds. ill only go if i have nothing else to do, trout taste nasty compared to crappie or walleye.

I have only had it once, went to Cherokee N.C. from Pigeon Forge/Dolly Wood and it was very strong, there. Never tried it again, so I did not know if it was just a strong tasting fish, or if I got some bad stuff. Must just be strong!
