I went to Forbes last Fri, ended up with 6 keepers, caught about 15-20 shorts. Seems like there were boats on every brush pile. I have noticed the quality of fish has really gone down of the past few years, I sure wish they would put a limit on this lake. It seems like the last 2 years each time I go to the cleaning station a couple groups are cleaning 5 gallon buckets full of 6-8" crappie. I dont know if its just me, but we use to catch some real nice fish in there, now there are alot of 8-9" fish that are just not real fat or healthy looking. We still catch a few nice ones, but not nearly as many, and if you go on a weekend you can expect to have lots of company.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about trying it out monday. Sounds like a limit would do the lake some good. Been since 07-08 since I whacked some nice sized fish/numbers out of there. Since then it has been downhill.

I agree completely with Cropy42’s assessment of Forbes.

At one point the DNR imposed a length limit on bluegill, and the population was beginning to respond…but they removed it and even the bluegill are heading back downhill.

It is a nice lake but it sees a lot of pressure.

    Default Skunked

Went to Forbes yesterday and got skunked. Ton of boats out, did not sound like anyone was having any luck. Water looked good and was 60, but we did not put a fish in the boat, and I'm not 100% sure we even had a bite. Windy, but fishable, tried deep and real shallow got disgusted after about 2 hrs and called it a day.
