    Default The wait is over

I basically took a year off from fishing. In the last year I had to get my old house ready to sell, and of course sell it, buy another house and move. Honestly a lot more work than I imagined. However, unexpectedly, I found my new house right in the middle of my favorite lakes to fish. I now live right across from the boat launch on my favorite one. The recent cold air has iced everything over and I finally had the time to fish again.

I went out Friday morning at about 7am. Air temp was around 18 and the feels like was 4. A little breezy as well. I didn’t venture out too far with the early season ice and I was flying solo. 4 inches of ice which is the very bottom of where I feel comfortable.

Caught my first fish in my first hole on my first drop. I was elated to finally feel the tug on my line again.

Caught a couple of more fish right out of that hole. Moved around a little bit and caught a few more fish in holes all near the first one. By the time the sun was getting up good, the wind really started picking up and it got really cold. Fishing seemed to slow down as well. I had caught my quota at that point so I packed up. Great start to the season and happy to be back at it. Caught 9 Crappie, and a Yellow Perch to bring home. Also caught a 16 inch pickerel which I released.

Nice! That’s convenient being near launch. Hopefully you can take advantage of it. Good job.

THAT........is an AWESOME start, what a way to return to your fishing habit! Congrats on completing the major changes in your life, I've heard many folks talk about how difficult it really is to pick up and move. Now you can get serious about your fishing once again.
And so close to where you like to fish is super and almost too convenient. Hopefully we'll have lots of posts this winter from you about all the trips you're going to catch up on that you missed....
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
