What brand of line is best to use for ice fishing and what pound test do you use.
I like trilene ice or stren ice. I use 2lb test to 6lb test. 2lb for gills and crappie and 6lb test for eyes.
For my tip ups I used 20 or 30lb ice fishing braid,a barrel swivel & 6ft of 10lb flurocarbon leader. If I used a jig pole I used 10 lb flurocarbon. The braid will stand up rubbing on the bottom edge of the hole when playing a fish, doesn't tangle on the ice and you can tie a loose loop knot in it to mark your depth when you sound the hole. The 10lb fluoro was because I usually caught some pickerel (teeth). You could go lighter on the leader if you don't have the toothy critters. I used Vanish for the leader but any good Fluorocarbon would work. Any ice fishing braid is ok also. Shiners for bait.
I use regular Trilene XL, like Crappie kid I use 2lb for panfish and depending where I'm Fishing 6-8 for eyes.
Berkely Trilene Micro Ice Line in the 4# test.
:D Give a man a crappie you feed him for a day...teach a man to fish for crappie and get rid of him for the weekend!!!
No stretch lines for instant hook-sets,and go with Fire-Line in charcoal color, and the 1 pound diameter line.:D and also have used 4 lb. test too.
