A doctor can look at a X-ray and see things that make no sense to you. The Doctor has acquired the ability to interpret the what the X-ray shows. Side imaging is very much the same, experience teaches you to recognize what is on the image. Only a lot of experience will allow you to gain the ability to interpret what you see; there is a learning curve that you must go through to solve the mysteries of just what is on the side imaging screen.
