Cool pic! Now I want to see one when he hits the net the first time!
Several years go in the fall I had an owl that stole a small (7") crappie I had thrown up on the dock when I was fishing that night. It was about 4 feet behind me and since it was dark it scared the bejeevers out me.
About 4 months later (early spring), I was fishing the same dock at night when a mallard hen and several ducklings nearby started quite a commotion. Then hen quacked loudly several times and dove underwater and flapped her wings wildy but never flew off. A few seconds later Mr. Owl swooped down and snatched up a duckling. About 30 minutes later he got another one then the hen led her ducklings out to the middle of the lake, and that was last I saw of any of them.
So now we know owls like coys, crappies and ducklings!
