Nice! My late brother and I would catch hundreds this way when I was in my teens. Thanks for the memories.
A couple more tips for nighttime crawler catching:
Worms love garden soil and beneath fruit trees.
Use a red light, it's less harsh and doesn't startle the worms as much. Headworn lights work great.
The lighter part of the worm is nearest the hole. Aim for that.
Keep the light off the worm once you see one. Keeping the edge of the beam on the end closest the hole.
Move in close slowly, use a flat hand, and QUICKLY yet GENTLY slap down on the end nearest the hole. Don't try to pinch or grab, they'll usually slip right out. A flat hand pins them down, then you can grab em and wiggle them free.
