    Hey Tom. Good info. I'll betcha most of those small enclosed spinners are built just about the same. I'll have to dissect a couple of mine to see.

    well i wouldnt buy one of these reels myself but i do have some friends that have them and i will b sure to pass onthe info great story

    The Shakespeare spinning reels, the various Alphas, Prius, and that sort, have a teflon washer between the spool and the body. Those drags are very smooth and adjustable as well as staying where you set them.

    now I know why I had some problems with drag on a few of these good lil reels thanks for the great instructions . These shakespeares work better than a spinning reel for dock shooting I get less jigs stuck in my thumb .

    Great read. I just wish you had posted a pic of the washer after the 5 bends. That wasn't exactly clear to me, but I"m gonna figure it out. Thanks for posting.
