Default Looking for a place to fish

I've been in atlanta for a few years but the only lake I've ever fished is Allatoona.

I'm looking for somewhere new. I don't own a boat and I have a 10 year old. So I guess I'm looking for something that isn't too far (an hour away from atlanta I guess....) and has some good shore fishing.

Where is Blackshear? And that isn't the same thing as Black Shoals is it?

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

    thanx!

Blackshear is about 15 miles off of I75 from Cordele, GA. Pretty much central GA and would be more than an hour away from Atl. The state park has alot of bank access and would be a nice place to take your child. They also have a war plane exhibit with some retired planes as well as tanks. Not as nice as Robins AFB aviation museum but something to look at. The state park is off of HWY 280 west. Has golf course too. Hope some one can give you some info closer to home.

    Artfu,

Take a look at Indian Springs Lake in Jackson, Georgia. High Falls lake just south of there, and of course, Lake Jackson. The first two are state parks and have bank fishing. If memory serves correct, they also have jon boat rental. Just bring your own trolling motor.
