    [QUOTE=GABoy]Hey there -

    My partner and I are heading up to Sinclair tonight to try shooting some docks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is your dock shooting rig? rod-reel-line, if you will share.

    I use a 5'6" light action rod, with 4 lb test, and a 1/24 or 1/32 oz jig-head...they love anything with white in it last night. Try the maribou jigs first...they like the bug-type jigs especially more so than the plastics.

    We also caught just a couple on a black/chart triple ripple.

    GOOD LUCK, let me know how you do!

    Yeah ... we ate at Chobe's then put in at Little River. Worked dock lights and then worked the banks next to the bridges just before we left. You're right about the current ... it was really moving.

    OHH...I gotcha...I thought you just wanted generic info....

    I actually have a Lexus Silstar I think it is called for one. It was one my father-in-law gave to me since he didn't use it much anymore. Then I have a Crappie Champions Choice for the other. (This one you will not be able to find anywhere except at The Crappie Shop, since it was custom made for his store.) I have a Shimano RX2000 on one and a Shimano Sidestab on the other for the time being. Of course, for that particular application, I wouldn't recommend those reels. I would rather have one without the quick-fire trigger for dock-shooting since you need to flip the bail manually. Of course, I haven't got everything just the way I like for truly dock-shooting just yet. I only do it on occassion when it is night-time and I have an urge to really go fishing. I hope that helps!!

    Sorry, I thought you said you were going dock-shooting the other night...my mistake.....I was reading my own post that you included in your response...ha ha!

    I heard they had a LM tourney out of Little River on Friday night this past weekend. Did you get caught up in any of that or did you get out before/after all that?

    I couldn't believe how bad the current was...of course, I don't fish up that way very often. I hear there is usually a current, but I didn't think it was that bad....it's very much like fishing in a river.

    We didn't see any tourney fishers. We got there around 8ish. I thought the current was bad too, but a guy I was fishing with, in another boat, said it's sometimes worse than that.

    I'll probably take my son up this weekend, probably Saturday night, and do it again.

    Yeah, it can be a lot worse than it was....but, it was still fairly bad that night.

    i found that the "shakespeare excursion" does decent for shooting docks. 4lb test with either 1/24 or 1/32 jigs. i make my own marabou jigs. and the rod is only 12.95 at wal mart.
