Oconee Striper Question(s) and appreciation
Hello All!
First of all, THANK YOU! With this site as a resource and those of you familiar with the waters I was fishing I was able to finally catch my first limit of Crappie ever. With a freezer full of crappie meat I wanted to mix things up and try my hand at some simple Striper trolling.
I am thinking about rigging up 2 med. action ugly sticks that currently have 15lb braid on them to troll spoons or storm swim baits. I'm not looking for lunkers just good legal/eating sized stripers.
I've heard some mention that on Oconee they are heading up into the flats/shallows a bit. Is this still the case? I am mostly only familiar with Sugar Creek and was thinking about trolling around the river bed and up the sides of those channels. I have a small boat, simple but hefty rod holders, no planer boards. Just trying to keep it as simple as possible. Basically long lining for them with larger jigs/line than I'm using for crappie.
Any locations, baits, depths, tips appreciated. I know it's not Crappie so forgive me if I've posted in the wrong place!
Thank you all again, it has been such a treat learning from everyone and I look forward to continuing to learn more about crappie as the seasons change!
