    Default WP Report...slabfest!

It is over..... The WIND WON! It sure beat the tar out of me. I feel so sore from the pounding the past few days.

Congrats to Jonathan and ShineRunner for the win.. Only 4 pounds but they were the only team with a limit of 7 fish. The look and excitement of Jonathan when he kinda figured they won... It was worth fighting the cold and wind to see it. I'll post pics but camera is in truck and I am to tired to get it. I am here with my heater.. Beautiful heater. I saw Jonathan catching crappie when I past by them. Did you really catch one Dan? lol.. Shinerunner knows what to look for on a strange lake. He placed at Oconee and won WP with son. Pretty good for him since he doesn't know the lakes...yet!

    2nd place was me
    3rd place Trumpdriver and stumphanger

Big fish was 1.13oz by me
    Shine had 2nd

I see a trend here. I have to get me a young partner

Today all of my fish came in 30'or deeper water. One(smallest) was caught 25' down in 35' water. The Slab was 16' deep in 30' water.
Nothing shallow for me not even a crappie bite.. those spotted bass worried me again. caught 8 of them.

Wow....good job Shine! Now you can use that money to pay off the new boat. Have mercy on the crappie nation. Shine won a tourney a few days after his new purchase.

The trolling is not as good in May as it is now but you can still troll up a crappie. In may I don't even get out my trolling gear because I pitch and slingshot mostly at that time.

:D Had a great time folks, even in the wind and bitter cold. Thanks for the firewood Smitty and for putting together another SlabFest! Once again you found the big fish! Enjoyed camping with Trump & Stump. You guys made what could have been a miserable trip into one that my son will talk about for years!!!!! Thanks for letting us hang out. Hey, ya'll got any marshmallows?????!!!!!!!! Reelcrappie, good to see you again and I really like your new crappie chasing machine (even without the trolling motor :p ). I wish the wind would have let you fish that spot you have been wearing them out on. Smitty, those fish WE caught came off a treetop in 7' of water and out in front of it in no more than 18' about 4-6' down and all on minnows. Even had other crappie coming up with the hooked one trying to get the minnow that was pushed up the line! It was in the only pocket of water I saw that the wind wasn't beating up, glad it was there because I normally wouldn't have fished in there! Yes, I did manage to catch a couple but my partner is definitely putting his share of fish in the boat! Gotta love it!:D

Shine, you and your son did a great job at the slabfest. You have two great boys, they are a pleasure to be around. I sure hated not being able to camp at this one. Enjoy your new boat, take your time rigging it up, that's fun too. My trolling motor should be back on the boat by this coming weekend, I can't wait. Filled up the boat on the way home, 20.5 gallons for two trips, I can live with that. See you guys in may at blackshear. I had a great time, it was good to see trumpdriver and stump, see you guys at blackshear too. Smitty thanks for the meal Friday night, best I've had in a long time.

Guys I had a blast too. A couple of hours in a good hot shower really thawed me out:D . Even if we did fish in a hurricane and made it through 29 degree weather it was fun. Congrats to Shine and "Bearing Buddy" on a job well done. I think we may have froze to death if it hadn't been for Smitty's firewood and the marshmellow boosters:D Reelcrappies new boat has put a craving on me bad. I have already been looking for a center console  For everyone who couldn't make it I think we set the record for the coldest and windiest Slabfest to date. It was really a great time See ya'll at Blackshear
