Anyone Tried Oconee Lately

The wife and I want to try Oconee one more time. Has anyone been lately. A little advice would be helpful. Thanks

Tried it saturday amongest the million other bass boats. Didn't do anything trolling but did pick up some nice ones shootin a few docks right before we left. There was nothing in shallow water that we could find other than a few butter beans. My guess is they've layed and gone... the nice ones we caught from under the docks still had a few eggs in them but you could tell they had already layed most of what they had.

Went to Oconee at 6PM today and fished till dark. Caught a couple dozen shooting docks. These docks were 4-6 feet deep. The water was not moving and it is full of pollen and spring time blooms. I got my best results shooting docks with board all the way around to keep us from getting under the docks. The water was down at least 1 1/2 feet so I could get under docks the are never fished when the water is up. I thought after the first dock I was waisting my time, but found them on the third dock. Caught 3-6 under each dock. Used a Perch Tube jig with a red belly sold by DWAZ (crappielures.com). It took a while to get the first bite under each dock, but after the first, they bite every other cast. These were good size 1 1/2 lbs. Oconee Crappie. Will go back tomarrow before the front hits. One of those days where you just wish you had more daylight. Have you ever noticed that this time of year (crappie season), your day job sure does get in the way of having enough daylight to do the things you really want to do?

Went last Thursday right after the cold front hit, could not even get a bite.

Will be out there tommorrow, but will be going after bass in the morning.

Just got home from Oconee. Started at 6PM and fished till dark. Caught 3-9 fish under every dock fished. Fished docks from 4.5 to 11 feet and all were productive. This evening their favorite was a Fin-S Rainbow trout. Did not get a single hit on the Perch tube with a red belly they could not get enough of last night. These were ALL 1.25-1.5 lbs. fish, with one 1.8 lbs. Again one of those days where I just did not have enough time. I hope this front keeps them full on eggs until next week. Oconee is smoking hot, better go while the getting is good. Hope we can get another good week later next week after a few warm days.
