    Default Sat. 20 th Allatoona

Put in at Gaults ferry and tthermometer shows surface temp. 31.9? I thought that can't be right. Idle out of no wake zone come on plane head up north, before the marina on the right a sea of ice. I could not get shut down quick enough. I thought I've hurt my boat. Nope it's ok idled through it and the ice opened up past the marina. Water temp. There 33 I said to myself well we're here make the best of it. Went straight to Kellogg shut down started my troll in The mouth and went all the way to Owl creek. Lots of shad kill birds everywhere marked loads fish on bait in the 12.5-7.5 feet. Trolled 1/16-1/8 head weights plus some blade baits mixed in varied colors of plastics and hair jigs. Off on TM, ziz zagged you name it....nothing. Can't remember when I've seen the lake this cold. Guess their gills were frozen. Water warmed to 35.9 left at 1:30 pm. Boat ran great and we got to test a bunch of new baits to see how they ran. Went home in the hopes to fight another day. Warmer weather is all we need loads of fish to be caught . Later Liftbite.

From what I’ve researched, perhaps the reason the bite is “off” is because of the abundant dead/near dead shad?
No need for the crappie to “chase” anything... the “all ya want buffet” is wide open.
Thanks for the report, I’m sure great days are just around the corner.

Thanks. Guys I’m a longline trolling fanatic make my own baits soft plastics hand tied. Hal flies and pour all my own heads with custom hooks . I didn’t get to fish last season my wife was really sick and the Lord provided a heart and she had a transplant at pedimont we were there for 72 days . She’s doing fine and with the he Lord’s help I’ll get to fish my brains out! I’m in Dallas but have a home on Weiss.

Was hoping to get over there this weekend but wifey has to work all weekend.
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!
