Default CLOUDY FRIDAY ON OCONEE 12/22/17 (video)

Jim and I fished Lake Oconee Friday from 7:45 until 4:30. It was a cloudy day and the water temperature was 49 degrees. The fish were deep in the channel as they were last week. The bite was slow all day and we had 1 fish at 10:30. The bite improved during the afternoon and we ended the day with 17 very nice fish. We found lots of fish and tons of bait but most of the fish were holding very close to the bottom under the bait fish. We had to work for them. We had two fish just under 12 inches, two fish 14 or better, five or six 13 inches or better and the rest over 12 inches. Jim also caught two of the biggest striper/hybrids that we have caught in a long time. The white/chart Charlie Brewer and a white/lime Bobby Garland were the best baits. Jim is going to have foot surgery the day after Christmas and won't be able to fish for a few weeks. We both wish all of you Merry Christmas.

Thanks Chris. I think Santa Claus is bringing me some planer boards to try. We don't need muddy water but some stain in our water would be nice. It is gin clear. I hope you get on some soon. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas.

I will be interested how them planer boards work. I don’t know how they will do in the stumps. How much weight did you have to run to get to the fish yesterday on the bottom in the channel?

I am curious about the boards also. I fished with double 1/16ths. I tried adding weight but did not catch any on those rods. The ones I caught were on the rods rigged like I normally fish.
