Tough call....Lots of fresh water at both places along with a cold front that moved in. I'm thinking that they may slow down for a few days but the cooler water may turn them on....Good Luck!!!

I would like to start out by saying thank you to all who served and who are serving today. If it wasn't for our military men and women we would not have the freedom we have today!!!! I have the honor of taking a good friend who served in the Marines fishing on Wednesday. I was wanting to see where would be the best lake to go due to all the rain. We are considering Lake Blackshear, or Lake Oconee.

I am heading up to the Hill this afternoon. We will fish tonight and drag Jig tipped with minnows dammar. Let y'all know. I don't expect much as there is too much fresh water and cold front conditions. I promised my buddy I would take him and this is his only shot at going. I can tell you only one thing for sure, you won't catch crap sitting at home.
I crossed the Flint going to Lagrange Friday and it was full up to the bank tops. That was before all the rain this weekend. It feeds Blackshear. Crossed the Oconee Thursday below Sinclair damn and it was out of the banks they were letting so much water out.
Thanks for the info. We decided to let the water settle and go the weekend after Thanksgiving. I spoke with TNT and was informed I would be better off going to a fish market than Blackshear. TNT said that they was opening the gates tonight.
Blackshear seems to just shut down when they start pulling water. Other lakes the fish turn on......Go figure![]()

they can be caught .
this was the tournament results when drawing water last Saturday .
[We only had 8 brave boats enter. Very tough conditions with high muddy water descending on the lake from the North and Crisp County Power pulling water like crazy, but Tommy and Robbie Huff managed to catch 7 that weighed, I believe, 8.28 lbs to come out on top.]
retired and now i will always fish
Sorry I am just seeing this I want to echo how Outlaw 125 started is post by honoring my favorite Veteran, my Grandpa, Daddy Bill, the man that taught me to fish. I sure do wish had lived long enough to see his grandson own bait and tackle shop, boy the fun we would have had!
PS - Blackshear is very challenging at the moment, but crappie are still being caught!

Yes they are pulling a lot of water with all 4 generators on and about 4ft of a gate open. Hey the crappie are still biting under these conditions. Stinger195 and myself went out to test a new depth finder he put on his boat and decided to pitch jigs and ended up with 14 really nice size slabs this morning.
Brad I am sure he would be very proud. Those sure are some nice bream he is showing off. I wish my dad was still alive. I took him fishing in my little jon boat years ago and it was hard on him because he was in his seventies. I used to take him to Oconee and we caught our limit of fish and he had a good time. I know he was hurting at the end of the day but he never complained. I sure wish he was here to fish in my Triton boat and be comfortable. I don't know what he would have to say about going 60 MPH across the lake. LOL. I know you miss your dad and I sure do too. Wes
