Oconee 7/2/15

I wasn't going to fish anymore this week due to the holiday boat traffic. I changed my mind. I pulled jigs on Oconee today from a little after 6:00 a.m. until noon. I caught about 20 fish and kept 11 good ones. The weather was very pleasant first thing and the bite was good until the skies cleared and the boat traffic increased. The water temperature was 83 degrees when I started. As usual, the crappie bit the darker colors early and began hitting lighter colors as the sun got higher. Blue/blk/char was good early and acid rain was good later.

Staying up here for the weekend. Hopefully pulling some cranks in the am.

HMMM....better make sure they dont run deeper than 8 ft or you'll loose them cranks in that Oconee timber. be careful. we caught about 40 on the trip this am. Fish are in the timber...pulling doubles 1/16 and 1/32 worked real well! I need to pull some cranks next spring just to see how they do. while crappie are in river channel highways to spawning grounds...but that timber pulling...ONLY LITE WIRE HOOKS FOR ME!!!

Tried some cranks this past spring. Caught a few on them. Jigs tipped with a minnow worked better for me.
