    Default DANG THE LUCK......

Headed to West Point this afternoon for a couple hours. Everybody in the family had something going on so I went by myself. Had a great afternoon, caught a mess of fish and decided to call it a day after a rogue striper wiped out half of my spread. Called home to tell em what time I would be there and my 12 year old told me he would help clean the fish. Got unloaded and started cleaning, I was filleting with an electric knife and my son was cutting the ribs out. One fish kept jumping off the edge of the table so he decides he is going to stake him down with the fillet knife..( I know,... but this is what 12 yr old boys do) Anyway with a mighty stab of the knife he goes to pin the fish down to the edge of the wood table............cept he missed. Next thing I know he says DAD, I cut my self. Somehow he managed to power stab his upper thigh lord knows how deep with that knife.
So, wife is at the ER with him now to get it checked out, cleaned out and stitched up, Tetanus shot and whatever else they have to do. He was hurting when they left so I'm hoping its not more serious. I'm home with the little one wishing I was there!

Hope he is doing well this morning. That is a hard lesson for him to learn, but I bet he won't do it again. We've all been there before...

Thanks everyone. All is well now, he got stitched up last night and some antibiotics. Made it home about 2am. Was a little sore and out of school today but is headed back tomorrow. He's got his sense of humor back but he still don't think its as funny as I do..........now that he's ok.
I guess some things in life ya gotta learn the hard way.

I think you're supposed to give him the knife he cut himself with...My uncle gave me a nicely used Rapala fillet knife back in the late "60's, I still have it... I had to give my son a really nice large Buck knife when he was 11, after we got back from the ER... That one still has 1 dried blood spot on it 14 years later... I guarantee he won't ever try to use it to chop up shotgun shells again !

Good to see he is okay! I would be concerned about the wrath of Mom on me for letting that happen!
