    Default Question to Pro's nd Non-Pro's


    If crappie only go up for food (95% of the time ) summer, Fall, Winter, spring,. How for will they go up for bait in the summer( clear or dirty water) how fare away doze the bait need to be 1,2,3,feet I know dirty water closer. good question, thank in advance for answers, P.S. open water or cover.

    I've seen thhem come out a couple of feet+ in super clear water out of bruch to hit a jig, but water clarity and conditions can be completely different even on the same lake on different days.

    It's going to depend on the lake and water conditions. Is a thermocline present? Barometric pressure also makes it hard for fish to move. I have found the wintertime thermocline to be when fish are most lethargic and bait placement most critical. Summertime crappie are scattered more, but will be aggressive at times and chance the abundant amounts of bait. Feeding times seem to come more into play in the summer.
