    Default Lake Blackshear Questions?

Being fairly new to both fishing and Lake Blackshear I was hoping someone could give me a few tips and maybe good places to start out night fishing for crappie at Blackshear. I generally put in at veteran's park and hit dock lights in the coves south heading towards the dam. Sometimes I do ok but mostly only come home with a few. Day time tips are definitely welcome as well but due to being a redhead I generally stay out of the sun as much as possible. Plan on heading there this Saturday night with the wife. We have fallen in love with Lake Blackshear would just like to catch a few more fish.

Fishing has been a little off there this year. Docks are the only consistent pattern right now day and night. Hope there is another wave or two of spawners like last year. Headed there today with the kids to check a few places I haven't been in a while to see if I can find a few. Just be careful when night fishing there. Between the drunks and the snakes it's hard to concentrate on fishing. There were also some floating logs mid lake on Monday.

Well I've probably been there a dozen times mostly at night. Don't believe I've seen any snakes. Can't say the same about the drunks though lol

Had to kill one today that just wouldn't quit trying to get into my boat. I guess I need to go to oconee or Eufaula because Blackshear don't like me right now.

The wife and I ended up catching 30+. Kept 16 and a nice 2 lb bass. Which was really fun to pull in on the micro light rod might I add lol.

This past Saturday was the first time I got to go out this year. Ended up with seven, more than I thought being how dirty the water was. I launch out of Veterans Memorial State Park and usually drop the lines in around the train trestle. If nothing is working there I'll go under the train bridge and fish the big pocket of water back to the east, the banks are usually good to put a few in the live well. Sounds like you found you a good spot or two.

We just hit all the dock lights in coves south of Veterans. Nothing special
