Are crappie ready to lay eggs if the egg sacks still covered with bloody viens or when the egg sacks have the silvery film covering them? I say the eggs are ready to lay when they are silver in color... the females I caught yesterday still had bloody egg sacks.

IMO the eggs will change from a bright yellow to more of an orange color when theyre laying. You'll also catch some fish with eggs spewing out when it's time. I fish the upper end of the hill and Lake Russell and havent seen any females layed out yet.
