I went yesterday, 3/08/2014. Water was still muddy in the main lake. I've not fished Blackshear much but want to try to learn it as it's much closer to me than going all the way over to Lake Eufala or Lake Seminole.

I don't know much about Crappie fishing at this point in time. I am decent (not great) at Bass fishing. What I'm really wanting to try to learn at the current time is where the shellcracker and bream bed. Actually, I guess it's getting close to crappie spawning time and I'd sure like to learn where/how to get in on that action.

When I lived in South Carolina I had some friends that had great success catching crappie when they were spawning. They'd use a cane pole with about two foot of line with a jig tied to it. They'd fish in shallow water where there were weeds or other stuff. I was told they don't "bed" like bream but attach their eggs to weeds/sticks/etc. Is that correct?

I put in at the state park and went towards the upper part of the lake, bass fishing and looking for likely bedding areas.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
