Well I fished oconee yesterday. Bite was good during the morning. Fished shallow in lick creek and even went to an old honey hole towards the dam. Fish were in 3 to 6ft of water. First part of day they were hitting black/blue/black jiffy jig tipped with a minner but as day went on all they wanted was a gold hook with a minnow on it. Caught about 25 or so. Only problem they were all under half pound. I did manage 5 nice slabs but the rest were about the size of my hand or so.
The 4 females I kept were about 1.5lb and when I fileted them they did not have but maybe a teaspoon of eggs in them. The male I kept was all beat up looking too. I believe the big mules are either done or they are finishing up. The small dink fiesta is on now. I believe I will let my poles rest for a little while. Will be dock shooting time soon!
