Thread: How to store jigs?

I can't help but will be listening to the response so I might pick up a tip or two..seems that most people carry too much tackle at one time on the trip and a brown bags worth is about all that they need

i bought a tupperware package deal that had a bunch of small pudding size containers and then put them in a sinch tight type bag. works great and depending on how many jigs are in it if a container falls out of the boat it will float instead of sinking!

A 38 caliber or similar bullet case works also. They are pretty cheap so you could mix and match several to suit your needs.
This one has a 100 slots.

I have seen alot of people use high density foam cut to 1 inch thickness and glued to the bottom of a tupperwear container. This allows the jigs to be seperated and viewed easier, which also protects them from being damaged when balled up in one container.

i got a old video camars bag that holds 5 0r 6 trays . i put curly tail in one and marabue in the other and one i put corks and hooks for minnow fishing some i have to much fot 1 tray so i will put in another. extry cards i put in a side pockett

Jigs on cards I put in gallon zip locks. I have pulled them off the cards leaving them in the plastic bags and put them in Plano trays. No real good way to deal with them. I like the Plano trays the best, but they take up a lot of room. Same goes for Hot Grubs and other plastics. I leave them in the plastic bags them come in so they don't fade as fast. I buy them in bulk packs and use the deeper Plano boxes. I got stuff in my boat that hasn't been used in years. I cleaned out a bunch the other day to give to a young angler that was just starting out. He will be set for a long time, but I still got way to much stuff. Kinda makes me want to go back to a minnow, hook, spit shot, and a cork some days.

I found what works best for me is the Flambeau trays. The reason is that the dividers are impregnated with a chemical that inhibits rust. I've had jigs now for yrs with no rusty hooks. I've seen them at Wally World every now and then. You can find them on line and some hardware stores carry them. They sell them to keep nuts and bolts from rusting.

I use a mix of BPS finesse bags and plano trays. I keep my jig bodies labeled and heads in bags in trays. I store them all in a Cabelas Super Magnum Bag. Load it in the boat and I am ready to fish.
