Sounds a lot like our trip there yesterday. Trolled flats from Cedar Creek south and only kept 10 fish. Our best luck if you can call it that was 14 to 16 feet pulling as close to the bottom as we could.

At least you didn't get skunked...Blackshear can be rough at times.
Heading to Blackshear in the morning.....hoping they will be active with the front moving in tomorrow night.
For the Everlasting Glory of the Infantry.
Fished North of 280 today, but not in the channel. Didn't catch much, but was on a search mission today. Fished a lot of water I have never fished. Found a few interesting things and a whole lot of big gar. Found a few good whites up to 1.82 lbs. Lost the biggest largemouth bass I have ever seen because I thought it was another gar. She came up and gave me a good look and then spit the hook. All I could do was sit there and stare at the water for a few minutes. I ain't much on bass fishing, but a big fish is a big fish no matter what species. I agree it was pretty cold till the sun broke out. I have to assume the majority of the crappie are still in or near the channel right now. Cold front this Wednesday will probably keep them there for at least another week. Water temps were 53-54 all day. Water color was good. Lake seemed high when I got there, and it appeared they had pulled 6" or so by the water marks on the bridge when I left. That may have had a lot to do with the slow bite. Hope you catch a bunch tomorrow Dutch. I probably won't be back to Blackshear till next week some time.

We went today and kept about 40 .....Used the fillet knife on all but 10.......Granny wants whole fish. We caught most of our fish in 17 - 20 feet of water. We did the best when we were getting out of the wind ......and they were a few in the cove we fished. Had a great time.........

A co-worker of mine hit Blackshear over the weekend and fished some flats, 18-20 fow, and done pretty good fishing with Acid Rain. He was in the Cedar Creek area and kept 24 nice ones...Here was his biggest at 2 lbs:
