    Default Coldwater Slabs on Lanier

Got out this morning to do a little tight lining on Lanier. We did okay given the weather. As the gusts were all over the place the best method for us was to troll with the wind at our back using the trolling motor thrust to slow us down. We tried going into the wind but found that harder to maintain a good line and control the bait depth. Water temp was 48 and it had a good stain to it. We were fishing 8 to 12 ft down over a 20 ft bottom. Ideal speed was 0.20 - 0.30 mph when we could hold it. Fish were not schooled up and were not relating to structure/cover very much. Larger fish would barely tick the line while the smallies would freight train it. Caught around 25-30 fish today. The fish are feeding well because even the "potato chips" had decent shoulders. If today is a sign of things to come the next few months should be pretty good on Big Sid.
