Went to Lake Blackshear to catch some more of the good white crappie. The bite was not that great but we did manage 25 that we kept and used fillet knife on all of them. The rain started and we came home bout 1:00. Before we came home, went by and visited Leroy's Bait and Tackle and restocked him with litewirehooks. He has a good selection of fishing tackle and the most minnows I ever saw. Our biggest 7 would have weighed 14 pounds, if we had a 7 pound watermelon to put with them........This was our 5th largest.

Ok..., looks like I may do the 1.5 hr ride this saturday. Weather looks to be good. I'll put in at Smoak Bridge. Anyone know what the parking situation is there?
Are they biting around the damn?
Nice crappie Hooker.
Blindhog....If you get there early it should be ok on the parking. Single lane boat ramp and dirt parking but should be able to fit 10 or so trucks and trailers if everyone parks with a little sense. If it is too crowded, come up HWY 300 North a couple miles and turn left on Coney Road. Follow it all the way till it dead ends on Hwy 280 and turn left again. Couple miles you will come to the State Park entrance on left across from two gas stations on right. Leroy's Bait & Tackle is on the right just past the 2nd gas station. If you would rather not use the State Park, Radz BBQ is a little farther up Hwy 280 past the park entrance and across the bridge over Lake Blackshear and immediately on the left. Parking can be tight there too but it is a two lane ramp. Tournament folks will probably be using Radz and the Park ramps. The park has 3 different ramps so there is always room there. I counted 62 boats last Saturday between the RR bridge and the dam. Not all tournament boats but if the bite continues like it has been there will be a lot of boats on the lake again Saturday. Winds look good for Friday and Saturday and temps don't look too bad either. Deer season ends this coming weekend too. Come on and get you some! We will be at the Mega Ramp Pavilion for the weigh in on Saturday. Come by and check it out while you are up this way. You can always come by water from wherever you put in and walk up to the pavilion and then go back and fish some more.

Hey Shinerunner looks like ya'll gonna have a very cold day of fishing but I still think the weight will be above average for Blackshear. How many boats are in the tourney so far? Hey ya'll I think the more boats there is the payout is larger.
Shnerunner where is the mega ramp located?
next to the beach
retired and now i will always fish
Yes. Its on the main lake side of the park between Gum Creek & Boy Scout. You can see the big crush & run parking lot from the lake. Pavilion is at top of the hill. If coming by road, come all the way in the park past big open field and stay straight.
