    Default New to Lanier

Going to try the ''big'' lake Sunday , now that my kids moved to Cumming . I was going to try the 6 and 4 mile Creek area but the 6 Mile ramp is closed . Is there another ramp near by ? And can any one give me a few tips ? I usually get minnows at the Dugout . Is there a local source that is open on Sundays?

    Dang that's a lot of questions ! Thanks !!!

You can get minnows at hammonds they're open 7days a week... also you can launch your boat at Charleston park, that is the deepest ramp on the lake.. you can try the back of 6 mile fishing the docks or troll the back of 4mile with minnows good luck

As stated Hammonds has everything you need and they open at 5:30 am. Charleston Park is off of 369 just before the 6 mile bridge. It is a County park so the Corp pass will not work there if you have one. L=Most people shoot docks but if you can find some sunken brush you should find fish. The reports that I have gotten ars calling for the fish to be in the upper portion of the water column. If you have a Corp pass Tidwell off of Exit 16 (GA 400) is just about as deep as Charleston. From there you can fish Baldridge and Young Deer.

We went to the lower old Blue Ridge WMA . Saw about 6 other hunters and a gazillion mountain bikers and horse riders . I thought there would be more hunters since it was the last day for bear on USFS. Everyone was very nice and we basically had that whole area to ourselves . We were on the back of FSR 28 A. Saw 3 does .
Make sure you check the regs . I think there are only one or two bear hunts left this season . Good luck . We are heading to the Atlanta tract Thursday for small game and a little Etowah River fishing . Sooner or later I WILL get to Lanier .

Yea I check them everytime I plan to go. look to see if any doe days are the same time to see if I can get one if anything else doesn't come out. You might have luck out on lanier now since almost all the party boaters are off the water. Been fishing carters mostly only been a couple boats out on the lake at a time.

Normally stay away from lanier during the summer cause they rough up the lake so bad its a pain to even stay to unload a boat out there.
