So are you agreeing it's a good thing or a bad thing? From what I'm seeing the tournaments, publications, web sites have done a great job in getting areas recognized that would otherwise overlooked by the masses and bringing much needed income to those areas, that makes a great economic impact in our supressed economy. If the DNR and locals would do their part in supporting the effort, it is a win win situation for everyone. Over crowding of lakes can be a good thing to some or viewed as a bad thing to others, but once again if everyone did their job, there should not be any problems.

Tony I think the whether or not it's a good thing or not is totally dependent on what you are looking at...the internet and tournaments are a good thing if you are talking about the economy most of the time....I'm sure when Rusty posted that the crappie fishing was picking up on Blackshear that some folks on the fence about going fishing decided to go give it a try....on the other hand, I made about 1/4 of the trips to Lake Talquin last year than I normally do because the internet kept me well informed that the fish weren't biting.....pros and cons to everything.....as for the fishing, I personally wish everyone and their brother didn't know when the fish were biting.....crappie are a pretty prolific fish and can stand a lot of pressure but I personally believe they can be overfished....how many fish you reckon the 25 boats in the mouth of Cedar Creek caught last year in those couple of weeks....in years past before the internet that boat number would have probably been 1/3 of that at the most....may take a while but it'll show up if it continues......I think Lake Talquin is a fine example that they can be overfished.....In the "hayday" 25 years ago it's my understanding that triple limits were easy....now days a limit is work....just my thoughts.

I blame it on the taste, they just taste so dang good!!!! LOL If they tasted like them junk fish we'd have a heap more wall hangers and limits.

well yeah I've caught a lot of stumps at Talquin.

It's easy to think it gets overfished when there are 46 boats parked in the cove at the Boy Scout camp but we ALWAYS seem to catch 'em when we go. I think it takes a lot more than most people think to fish a lake out.

I have mixed feelings on this deal. I just know it only takes a small group of people to ruin a good day of fishing. If I had to base my worst experiences on Lake Talquin (other than when the fish aren’t biting) is during these tournaments. There’s always one or two that throw-out all consideration for the other fisherman on the lake. Driving too fast up in the creeks, swamping other boats with their wakes and have no fear at all in going right in to where your fishing and attempting to crowd you out. It hurts the other 90 percent that are having consideration for the other fisherman on the lake. I stopped fishing tournaments years ago because of the other 10 percent of idiots! Also, learned to just stay off the lakes when these tournaments are going on. If the tournament participates would learn to “weed-out” these type of people, they wouldn’t be getting the bad rap on the lakes that they’ve had over the years. I hate it for the majority of you that show consideration to others on the lake, but the few that don’t-----you want be missed!

Hey Sorrydog, it must be middle of the day when you posted. Hope everything is going well. Bet you are counting the days till you get to come home. Looking forward to fishing with you this winter.

I agree, I do not go out on the lake during a crappie tournament. Not worth the hassle from the 10%. The 90-10 rule works with anything. Dissenters, gripes, etc..

I am the second trailer towards the lake from you.

    Be safe.

Was morning time Chuck. Good catch on the time zone difference. Got till Jan 15 and out of here. i was suppose to leave 3 Dec but having some people issues at the moment (no one wants to replace us--go figure?). so being the nice guy I am (my wife might say different at the moment) I'm staying over for 30 days to get the change-over complete.

Hey, if all of you want to know where some of your hard earn tax money is going at the moment, here's a little information of what our group is doing over here.

Sorry you will miss December crappie. We'll update you when you arrive back. I am sure litewirehooker will add to the update.

See you when you get back, I'm sure we will schedule a big fish fry.
