    Default Filling a tackle box

I'm new to the area, and I could use some help. What should my tackle box include if I am going to pursue some crappie (sac-a-lait where I am from).

    Thanks

Welcome from Tennessee, hophead. What you will need will be some 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 oz. jig heads (check w/ gabulldog in the classifieds section. He makes sickle style heads that are deadly for very cheap). Also, as far as jig bodies, you could spend a small fortune trying to pick and choose colors and styles. What I would do to get started is purchase a Southern Pro jig kit, from Monk's Crappie, that has several different types and they have different pack sizes. Lastly, get you some light corks, split shots, eagle claw 214el #2 hooks, and crappie nibbles. You will need a light action jig rod with a small reel on it. I prefer a 9' rod that I can cast as well as reach to cover to drop a jig. Along with this length, you will get excellent casting distance for throwing light tackle. Lastly, make sure to rig reel with 6-8 lb test line. The lighter the better for finicky feeders and light biters. Hope this helps.

but realy what he said is right but starting out i would get a 6 foot ultra light rod for casting the long rods can be hard to mess with when new at it

I would definately be sure and have some of Crappieday's Micro-Spoons old reliable jigs. These are some of the hottest jigs on the market and are inexpensive.

Thanks gents. I'll stock up on a little of everything until I find my favorites (well, their favorites).
