This is not a poll because I want multiple responses from multiple people on multiple angles of thought.
How much would you pay for way points to structure on a lake?
How much would you pay for a certain kind of structure on a lake?
Would you pay for any kind of way point on a lake?
These questions are for my personal thoughts only. I do not represent any company in any way. The thought just hit me after reading some threads and researching some chart web sites. Contours are great, but time + fuel = a great expense. Not to mention effort to actually place certain structures on legal bodies of water. Just a thought that I am sure will spark a multitude of responses and thoughts.
If this does turn profitable for someone, I appreciate the forthcoming...........................well you know

I'm not sure if I would pay anything for waypoints. If that guy sold the waypoints to me, how many other people has he sold it to and soon it becomes a community hole??..Besides, I am a tightwod
I wouldn't sell any of my waypoints to anyone. I'll tell someone where to go, they can follow me or I'll give them the numbers for the waypoint. Some of my waypoints were handed down to me from others and many are places that I just stumbled on....Either way, they cost me a lot to get them....Time+Fuel= Great Expense is Absolutely Correct!!!!!

I first try to go where I think the fish might be on any giving day. If that don't work, I start looking for groups of boats in other areas. Best and cheapest "way-points" I've found on my budget.![]()
I watch boats. Then go by after to see what structure they are fishing. Then I hit the mark button

I know in the Gulf waypoints are jealously guarded...some guys would let you sleep with thier wife instead of sharing waypoints. My Dad has a extensive collection that he will barely share with ME his own son...much less anyone else.
I know of some yankee fellas from the Atlanta area that paid alot of money for some waypoints to some grouper spots...and still couldn't catch any. Just because you have the waypoints doesn't mean you are going to catch fish.
That being said I wouldn't pay a cent for a waypoint...on most lakes structure and fish are easy to find if you put in the time and effort. Part of the fun in fishing is figuring out a lake and where the fish will be and biting day to day.

Maybe ten years ago someone would pay, but now it's easy to find structure with the electronics. It would cut down on time searching but that's have the fun for me. Tournament fishing is a whole other story, I know it's done.

A lot has to do with what your environment is...around here none of our lakes are over 10,000 acres. Most are in the 5 to 7,000 acre range. As drill instructor indicated, its pretty easy to find structure and/or fish. Nothing against you personally, but the question is leaning towards the way our culture and society is leaning...dependent. People want to "get" something and not work for it. I find it more challenging to find things on my own. I suppose if your on a large body of water or fish the ocean it would be beneficial.

but you left out the 3rd kind Christan..
retired and now i will always fish
I really wouldnt buy info like that cause it takes part of the fun out of it. personally i get away from boat crowds and find other fish. like some said, you put all that work into fixn a hole it becomes known to everybody. granted that spot will be found eventually but not as quick as if it were advertised. not just that, some people you can tell exactly where to go and they still cant catchem. i would rather tell a fellow fisherman where to go than sell him the info. its all about being Christian, decent to each other, enjoying that very day that the good lord allowed you to have, and FILLIN THE COOLER! "with a legal limit of course"
