Foiled again

I cleaned up my boat, glued down some loose carpet, replaced the trolling motor, replaced the battery, tuned up the motor and replaced the water pump impeller, repacked the wheel bearings on the trainer and repaired the lights and wires.

I cleaned and oiled my reels, replaced all the lines, and painted the tips of my trolling rods flourescent yellow.

I threw away all the pork & beans, vienna sauseges, and potted meat that were more than six months past their expiration dates, and replaced the stale saltines.

I restocked all my jig boxes, and renewed my fishing license.

And then the rain came!

Now I can't get my boat out of the shelter because my yard is to soft to drive on and the water standing in it is to shallow to float my boat.

My wife said I should look on the bright side; the weather that's prediced for the next week might keep the crappie off balance until I can get the boat out of the yard, and I might be able to sneak up on a few before they go back into the deep water. She said if that didn't work out I could go to the lake later on and cuss the jet skiers and gator trollers.

Damn! come to my garage and do all my maint too then we'll get a concrete truck and pour you a pad and driveway to that boat!!! Not being able to get the boat out is like looking at home maid cookies in a locked up glass jar!!!! ...oh so close...Drat! foiled again!!!!

A clean boat just gets dirty again, Pork and beans will never go bad, and that water in your yard may have fish in them.

Some days are diamonds and some days are not. Things are looking good for the month of March. Best fishing days = 11-27th.

I'm beginning to feel a little puny already. I expect I'll have to call my supervisor a few times next month to tell him I won't be able to get to work because of feeling so crappie.

Crappietitus must be highly contageous and apparently the chance of a relapse is very high. Thankfully the most severe cases only last a day or two at the time.

thought when i got SS age i could take off anytime i wanted that ain`t soooo. got to have fish bait and gas money .

I won't be able to make it this year although I would like to.

I am committed to work at our gun range that weekend getting ready to cook for three days for around a hundred folks at our annual benchrest rifle match the following weekend.

Good luck Stick. That is a good range down there. I used to know so many of them but now Tony Martin the only one left that I know.

Our upcoming match is our twelth and is the largest one in the Southeast. We draw a lot of the top shooters in the Eastern United States to our range every year.

Our snowbirds keep coming back to enjoy our warm temperatures, hospitality, and southern cooking. We have even tricked some of them into liking grits specially with a big ol dollop of redeye gravy sloshing around in them.

I've been a member since 1995 so we probably met. I've known Tony for over thirty years, he puts a purty good dent in the population of the fish in the river ever year and ain't a half bad cook.
