Just wanted to warn you about a virus I picked up on you tube, I was watching Woody Woods fising shows and after I had watched a few of his vidows I schroled down to the bottom of the screen and saw SOUTH WESTERN FISHING VIDOWS and decided to watch it and a microsoft warning flashed on my screen telling me I had contracted a virus and my computor has slowed to a crawl. I can"t get on our Ga. main board, only off topic and Ga. Bream. I have got to take it to a geek and get it cleaned out. makes me sick and mad at the same time. just wanted to warn others NOT to watch the South West fishing vidows. Thanks, Jimmy S.
Thanks

Before you take it to a geek ... download Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware (free versions) and see if you can get rid of the virus. I'd also seriously consider getting another antivirus program. You should never have contracted a virus, in the first place. I use Avast ... and it blocks any links that are "contaminated". I use the free version of that program, too.
You can get free downloads of most of these programs, by going to www.download.cnet.com & looking for the "most popular downloads" list. SuperAntiSpyware isn't on the list, but it is on the site. Here's a link to it :
SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition - CNET Download.com
You COULD have encountered the "fake" Microsoft virus warning, too. (you'd know it was fake, if you don't have a Microsoft antivirus program on your computer) Very authentic looking ... but, it auto runs a scan & then tells you that you have all these virus problems, and wants you to buy the program to get rid of them ... when in actuality, there are no viruses, and the scanning program IS the intruder (trojan). SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes will get "that" fake off your system.

Yeah, those trojan fakes are a real pain, but they're not real hardcore viruses (thankfully). They just keep popping up with the fake scan/results .... just simply trying to get you to purchase the "removal". I'm pretty sure there's not really any removal program ... they just want access to your computer files or credit card number.
Knowing what programs you have on your computer, is your first line of defense. When something pops up & starts scanning or telling you you're computer is infected, and you don't have that program installed .... the safest thing to do is to immediately click the X (Close) button (top right corner of screen) and run your anti-spyware/anti-malware programs & quarantine that sucker !!
The free versions of those programs need to be manually updated ... I usually update them once or twice a week. There's no real great difference between the free version & paid version .. other than auto-updating & constant monitoring of the paid version. It's very simple to update them, and it's usually very quick. I run one or the other about once a week, on the "quick scan" mode, just to get rid of any "cookies" (ad trackers) that may be lingering around & tracking where I go on the web. I'll do a deep scan about once every month or so ... but, haven't found anything major in years.
Glad you got your computer back & functioning normal !!
