Thumbs up Wife puts the smack down on another good one.....

Last year was her first year deer hunting. She harvested a stud 9 pointer in early November. This year she stepped it up a notch and drops a 10 pointer out of the same stand in almost the exact same spot but didn't wait till November! This big boy was the fourth deer and the second buck she watched come through a funnel in less than 5 minutes. 9:02 AM Sunday morning this buck stopped in a North Dodge County shooting lane when she mouth grunted at him. He was following a smaller buck and two does that had already crossed. His neck hadn't swollen yet, but his tarsal glands were black and he was stinking pretty good. The 1st buck grunted back at my wife when she hit The Can bleat call. We didn't get a weight on him but guessing 180-190 lbs on the hoof. She didn't want to spend the money on a mount again since her first one is already on the wall. I really wanted a Euro mount, but she insisted on having her Dad make a plaque and just mounting the antlers. That will be a cool mount too I am sure. 45 yard shot with a 7mm/08 Remington youth model 7 using 139 grain Hornandy Light Magnum Interlocks. I am very pleased with her shot placement on the shoulder as well as the bullet performance. We had a bad experience with the Winchester Ballistic Tips last year. This deer dropped within 30 yards of the shot. We recovered the bullet just under the skin on the opposite shoulder. Almost 100% weight retention and very good expansion.

Well enough rambling........................here is some pics

That white patch by his eye is from a scar he had I am guessing from a fight in previous years.

She sure was glad it was a short drag back to the logging road!!!

    Now it is my turn!
