Ga. Bulldogs

I moved down from Va in July and I thought VA Tech Hokies fans were loyal/rabid..

Let me just say, I'm about 45 min's south of Athens and there are Bulldog license plates, shirts, etc EVERYWHERE here. You'd think everyone and their brother graduated from UGA Nice to see fierce fans.

Being a UGA fan is what most folks in Ga call the "cool" thing to do. You fit in the the big crowds if your a mutt fan. I'd bet 75% of the folks your seeing driving vehicles with UGA decals on them couldn't tell you who the starting QB is. On the other hand, if you see someone sporting some GT gear, they are most likely a die hard fan. I'm sure its probably the same way in Virginia with VT and UVA.

Your assumption would be right about UVA vs VT. My General Manager was down from Minneapolis a few weeks ago and is a Ga Tech grad. He mentioned it around here and got a lot of funny looks. We're definitely in bulldog country here.
