    Default Closed Face Reels

Which have you found is the best and most reliable? I am sooo tired of the ones I've been buying lasting about a year or 2 and then having problems with them and throwing them away. Thanks

I bought 3 and 4 bearing quantums for $18 a piece at academy a few years ago. I believe I bought 12 of them. Haven't had the first problem with them. I've even caught several 5-8' strippers ripping drag and they still work fine.

Go on ebay and buy an "original" Johnson Century. I have four that were made in the late 60's/early 70's, and they still work. Those reels are bulletproof.

I have the "Quantum optix" and the "Quantum vapor" Here's a link to the Academy add.
    QUANTUM OPTIX SPINNING REELS

It looks like the Vapor isn't made anymore. I can only find them on ebay. I tell you though, I really like the Optix by Quantum especially for the price.

I'm sorry... I just realized you said closed face. I bought a couple of zebco omegas last year and have had good luck but they're pricey. I also bought a Pfluegar citina this year for shooting docks and am happy so far.

Stay away from the bass pro "tinylite", the shakespeare synergy, and the shakespeare microcast. Each of these have only lasted me a season before giving me problems. I guess you get what you pay for.
