Both units are mounted on the same boat...very cool too compare both units, at the same time...What do you think about the differences of clarity in the screen shots?

I think all this conversation is great1 But what I want to know is,,,,, What could be best for the beginner with less than a Lottery winnings be?
I saw the Hummingbird and the Lowrance in action in Florida in April. For the MONEY this is the one: Lowrance Mark-5X DSI Sonar If you want to spend a few more coins go this way: Lowrance Elite-5X DSI Sonar If you want the best, by far, go this way: Humminbird 998 Color Sonar/GPS with HD Down and Side Imaging
I have looked for bream beds with an aluminum pole for years but the boys in Georgetown had these units and they could find a bed with fish in minutes.......Oh, they are also good for crappie stuff...
I have a question. I can't decide which way to go. I have a Lowrance HDS 5 but no downscan or sidescan. It cost about 650.00. I cannot decide whether to buy the extended warranty or not. What are my Crappie brothers and sisters doing? Are ya'll buying the extended warranty. It is kinda expensive but it is worth it if you have problems. Thanks, Wes
Does nobody but me have a HDS 5? Are ya'll buying the extended warranty or not? Thanks, Wes
Wish I could help ya Wes but all I got is a simple HB 525
