Doahhhh. Just realized this IS the New Members section so here goes.

Hello all, My name is Rob and I am from Boerne TX....which lies a little North West of San Antonio.

I am a complete newbie to Crappie fishing. I grew up in Middle Georgia so I have heard of Crappie fishing but was never fortunate enough to have experienced it first had. In my little world salt water fishing is all the rage. I do it as often as I can but I live 2-3 hours away from the water which makes trips less frequent that I would like. I have been randomly fishing fresh water with the family to fill in the gaps... mostly catfish at our area power plant lakes. As it would turn out cat fishing is a bit slow for my two young sons (6 & 9 yrs old) so they put up a fight every time they see the boat hanging off the back of my truck. A light bulb finally went off about Crappie fishing when I was doing some random internet searches on Tin Boats and ran across this site. The possibility of fast action when the bite turns on presents hope that it is something that will keep my boys attention...a pretty tall order these days thanks to modern electronics.:-(
Well I figured the best way for me to learn a little about the sport is to get with a good guide for the first time out. I have a trip scheduled with Mr. Barry Dodd (Teach 'Em to Fish Guide Service) for my wife and myself later this month. It looks like we will be right on the front edge of the spawning season which I hope will be fruitful for my wife's sake. Me...I'm just there to learn the tactics and how to read the electronics for the required structure and water temp. Wish us luck and give praise to Mr. Dodd for offering to take some complete newbs fishing.

GOD Bless,
Rob
