Default Caught the crappie bug in VT

I caught my first crappies through the ice last winter on my last day ice fishing. Actually the ice lasted right into April-- it happened to be the day before trout season opened. Well, despite my screen name, I haven't been so crazy about trout this year. I've been pretty much obsessed with crappie!

And of course, like you have probably all experienced, as soon as I think I have them figured out, they change their behavior. I finally figured out how to catch them from my canoe, doing quite well, and finding more and more lakes that hold them. After the recent hot spell, though, I think they may have moved to deeper water. Back to the drawing board!

Hey troutcrazy, crappie are much better eatin' than them boney slick trouts. I have been trout fishing here in Arkansas, but I quit because I never found a way to eat them that appealed to me. No sense killing them when I know I'm not going to eat them. Summertime crappie are hard to find sometimes, you may have to sink some brush tops and coax them in bit.

I've got a friend from up your way in the green hills. He's from Randolph, Vermont. He sends me maple syrup and I send him shelled pecans every holiday season.

Welcome to the boards. Lots of good people here. GTT
