Semper Fi! I was stationed in Yuma Arizona. There's a campground at lake Martinez for veterans and active duty I use to stay at with lots of cabins for cheap. You should try it out one weekend. There's some flats at the back of the lake with a ditch that runs through the bottom of it. The best sized crappie on a stringer I have ever seen came from there. It's right where they block off for wildlife until March. It's goin to be hot any minute it's the right time. I used to make reservations from Yuma base hotel. It's worth the drive if you can find the spot. I would long line for them that's how we caught them. Spider rigging would be awesome to but Arizona is like California you have to buy a stamp just to be able to use two poles.
