Hi...I am Beansguy...Been fishing all my life...well probably 70 years of it as I'm 73 years old...Caught my first crappie in Grenadier Pond in Toronto when I was about 12... Somebody told us it was a calicoe bass and it was a few years later when I read in a magazine that it was a crappie...Never really targeted them until 6 years ago when I moved up to the north shore of Pigeon Lake, Ontario In the spring we fish a certain cove where you could fill a 5 gallon pail in an outing but a dozen is enough for a couple of feeds for the wife and I so the rest are released...In the fall I get the odd slab off our private park but never any great numbers...Next year (2010) The Ministry of Natural Resources has opened up the Kawartha Lakes year round for panfish and coarse fish so I'm looking forward to catching some crappie through the ice (and maybe a carp?)...Nice to be aboard and hope to learn all I can about icefishing for crappie...Cheers !!!...Mates
