Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum. It's hard to find people who love to crappie fish as much as I do! Hope to learn some tricks of the trade...

I'm interested with the fishing in Mississippi, the 12" size restriction sounds great. Hope to get info. Thanks!! Dangerous Dave

I must agree, KY Lake is one of the best lakes to fish. I have heard that alot of slabs are biting near Big Sandy..

I've been fishing for the past 70 years. The best hobby in the world. I fish in several states and lakes. Back home in central Illinois we fish strip mine lakes. We are about 2 to 3 weeks away from some great crappie fishing. I would like to fish for crappie some time in the south never have. What lake would you recommend?

    Default Thanks for the info

Have you ever fished Moon Lake Miss?

The ice went out Friday in canton. Caught some nice 12" crappie drifting today on jigs.

    Hey Buck,

According to what I'm hearing the Crappie are biting on Big Sandy right now, however, it will most likely be much better in a few weeks during the spawn. It is a great place to catch some table size shell crackers in early May also.

Buck, what type of jigs are you using?

I went out Saturday morning at a small lake near my home and tried everything in the book to get a bite, but could'nt. I even topped my jigs with live minnows and nibbles but to no avail I found fish holding around 18' deep but they was'nt interested in what I had to offer! I believe the recent change in the weather has had a big impact on feeding patterns. Whats your strategy when the bite just is'nt happening?

    Default Jigs

I use 1/32 oz with a Tripple Ripple Grub 2". I used a PMK/Chart Pep tl yesterday and never change colors. I have several packs of colors that I bought at Bass Pro.

I Like to troll slow with 2 poles one with 1/32 oz and one with 1/8th oz to see what depth they are at and find them. I will vertical jig then or troll again.

I use different color jig heads my favoriate is pink. Depends where they are at I will cast or even use a cork and jig it.
The best minnows are Rosie's. Where is a good place to stay near Big Sandy?

    Buck
