    Default Lake Monroe Thursday w/pic

Trolling on the north side of the lake in 3' to 5' of water. Caught 11 in about three hours and kept ten that were 10" plus and two 12" plus. Even caught a 15 oz bluegill and threw it back. The specks looked thin like they have been spawning, but I haven't cleaned them yet to see if they have roe. I'm glad they are starting to bite again and maybe the weather will cooperate. Looking forward to slabfest.

We used katlin grubs and some homemade jigs and just about every color did the same. Maybe red and white was a little stronger. We did find that using 2" trailer hooks helped catch the shy ones. Going to try the river Friday for specs and get in some bluegill time.

    Speckanator,
My cousins came in 3rd place in a Crappie tourney Saturday on Lake Monroe. They caught 30 on minnows. He said they were inconsistent, though. Some were shallow and some were in 10' of water. They didn't say where they were at on the lake.
