I would think that this latest cold spell has them in deeper water.

Not to worry Ed. Here shortly they will get into a pattern that can be figured out. 'Lil Jim Davis got 5 yesterday fishin 7' of water about 3-4' down. He tried pads, but nothing in them yet. A few warm days and will find them just out from the pads near drops, then a week after, they will be in the pads for sure. Will take you out and show you a few places next week when the wife is working.

Let me know a day before you go out. I will put my boat in at Hickory Point and meet up with you.

Same thing at the Stick Marsh. Surface water temp was 57.9 degrees when I launched at 1000 and never reached 60 degrees. Two of us drifted for 6 hours and caught 8 or 9 and only 4 were keepers. There are a few places that have water between 12-16 feet. According to my Fish Finder there were thousands of fish in that deep water. I assume some of them must be Crappie. Would not bite anything we offered. Jim Porter (Guide) told me that anytime the water temp gets below 70 degrees at the Stick Marsh, they start slowing down. I think at 57 degrees they have lockjaw. Cold for the next few nights ain't going to help. Think I'll stay away until the water temp gets back up to at least the mid 60s.

Don't feel bad, we aren't catching jack out here in Henderson chain either. We've been doing quite a bit of night fishing and at best are catching 2-3 a night. Still a lot of crappettes biting... don't know where the slabzillas are at?!?!!

I'm guessing it will get right here soon next month.

Main difference is, when it gets cold, slow down. WAY down. This is when minnow tipping is really recommended. Fishing that slow, a tube jig would not do anything, but with a minner???? may do some good. slower the better in the cold.

water temps need to get to approx 65 consistantly with warmer days than what we are having, I would rather see mine get towards 65-70. I think maybe by next week with the warming trend we are SUPPOSE to get, thats if the weather man knows what he is talking about, but I wont hold my breathe waiting on that guy. These shallow lakes will warm up quicker than you think if the wind will just quit
