    Default Lake Sampson

Went back to Sampson today for a half-day trip hoping the cold weather had killed back the hydrilla a bit. No such luck, but we did find some open water and got to fish, which was more than we could do last time.

Bite was definitely turned off... we only caught three. Two were keepers though ( 1 pound 12 ounces and 1 pound 4 ounces, both just starting to develop roe). I caught a big pickerel and my fishing buddy got hooked up with a log-sized gar.

Doing our usual... pushing jigs (no minnows this time) at about 1.1 mph or so. Floating hydrilla made the fishing more work than play so we left early.

I love bass fishing this lake. The grass can definitely get out of control in there. I know the fish love that stuff, but man it can be a pain to fish.

Better luck at the next location!
