I think youre right. "MOST" probably mount fish that way. The guy I had mount a few deer heads for me mounts ALOT of fish. He is always traveling to professional taxidermy shows competing with all types of mounts he's done. I dont have any fish mounted but have witnessed him having fish in his "drying room" and he uses the actual fish for mounting. I know there's alot of guys that are good with their trade, but his mounted fish looks like when you first pull 'em out of the water. He's a real artist when it comes to painting the mounts.

Boy that Lake Orlando produces some big fish. I guess not too surprising it is very fertile with the golf course on it supplying all that extra fertilizer. The lake is definitely eutrophic. City of Orlando tested it and has it listed as eutrophic. The water is very brown from the excess nutrients. Although it may have naturally been a higher nutrient lake depending on the soil type and drainage in the area. Regardless the golf course definitely contributes. Not like the St. John chain which is naturally stained water.

Whose complaining though if the fish are surviving and they sure appear to be. Hope it never passes that critical point where too much nutrients causes die off from oxygen consumption with all the decaying plant matter on the bottom. The lake is small, no motors allowed, and the fish hold hard to one area making the fishing excellent and not difficult to figure out. Really is a gem you have there. It is perfect for kayak fishing. Don't worry though, I'm into exploring new lakes closer to me, but couldn't help trying yours out. I'm not the type to hammer someones spot. Plus I share when I do well elswhere good luck with a whole week off I'm sure you'll have fun.
