After a good time last weekend my week has been consumed with what else might be waiting for me over in the salt. Not long after sunrise Nino and I dropped in and we’re met by this.
Our first destination left us with zip but bad manners from some of the others so we went back where the wind wasn’t bothering us. Topwater didn’t even get a hit but the jigs kept me busy some. I haven’t seen that many Manatees in one area in a long time. Between them and the now regrown grasses it kept us on our toes. With the wind helping me along I drifted in on top of the biggest school of the biggest Snook I’ve ever seen. Numbers were near 30 when I first saw them as they were laying among some downed trees. My pics didn’t come out but I did try. Several of these were over 35” and they had my attention. I got two of the smaller ones in the group but the big ones weren’t interested in anything I had to offer. Now I’ve got to see Slimjim and get another tutorial on throwing a cast net for the live bait these things want. Now I’m officially distracted too. Anyways, here’s the couple I got and I hope y’all get out soon. Maybe I’ll see ya when I do. Might even go get a few crappie in the morning. Til next time……Skeet.
And just for you Doug, near 20 and 23”. Not giants but they made me smile.
