Been after them pretty hard over the last month over here in Citrus County. Been spending a lot of time in the river this year, which is a bit of a change for me. Since adding a Livescope to my setup I've really been enjoying hunting for structure and finding fish on them. The bite's been a little all over the place and not very consistent. I'm sure these up and down weather patterns have a lot to do with that.
Here are some pictures from one of my most recent trips out. Real gloomy and rainy day, but turned out to be a banner day in terms of the bite. Couple real nice slabbos pushing 15 inches. Strictly vertical jigging outside of weedlines, and if the depth is right -- I'll pull open a few holes here and there. Mid-day seems to be when they're most active right now. I'm sure that'll change as we near towards post-spawn.
Lot of other folks minnow fishing with pretty good luck. Started taking Friday's off work to study the water a bit more. Going to be headed back down to Okeechobee next weekend to fish with my father and hopefully get into a mess of them. Cheers!
