After previously posting/configuring the 3-state(Wisc., Ill., Tn) alignment shaping with my C.com owner/member tutelage that resembles my new Florida state of residence shape, I thought my newest saltwater student may be from Slab's homestate(Ill.) adjoining state= MISSOURI! the SHOW ME state.Larry(Mongoose 77) helped me at our recent Crappiefest by bringing his Cooker/gas setup AND helped me get hot food to the Starving members much quicker!
He informed me he has ZERO salt/single-pole casting experience and asked if I could SHOW him. Our day was yesterday for this Florida born/raised C.com member, and he arrived @my driveway 20 minutes early(guess he was a little excited)
Everything was easily, perfectly aligned, aside from the low fish-activity forecast, for what I predicted would be memorable for him. After telling me that he had no braided line outfits, I assured him all would be taken care of.
Magnificent sunrise,
low wind, warm temps were welcomed by both.Handing him a spinning outfit, he advised that both Pontoon Pappy(C.com member he occasionally fishes with) and I have the reels mounted backwards!
Now Larry is a long-lining magician that USED to be a Bass fishing bait-casting angler. A quick 38 second switch-over and it was time to watch his casting abilities in the mangroves(Remember Ed?). He did good, no fish, so Westward we motored. The artificial-only bite was slow...but I could hear the engines revving in the distance!
So, we started our Milk-run and started steadily finding the GREENER Pastures where the Cows were feeding!
Mainly trout, but feisty, hard-fighting, acrobatic LADYFISH<24" gave Larry quite the new show, but unfortunately, not on His line! Couple hardhead cats, pinfish and a new variety for him Lizardfish introduced themselves to him. Biggest TROUT were 24" & 20 1/2" that were BOTH caught by LARRY...in the NET!Truthfully, I do wish that I was the one netting HIS Trophies.
Attachment 414158 It was my PB west coast trout in 10 years.
Mr. Larry had some braid-learning times but fortunately no sharp instruments were needed. He listened well and enjoyed newbie success and we both enjoyed our day doing what we all love. Even had some MANATEES blowing their noses @us!
Thanks for ridin'/reelin'/reelin' w/us....enjoy the pics- especially the one with me showing Larry his next [COLOR="#0000FF"]long-lining rig!

Incidentally, I did ask Larry if all of the EIGHTEEN spinning outfits that he simultaneously uses for long-lining are handle-flipped...= EVERY ONE OF THEM!!
